Row 29

This is the last row before you come to a dirt road that separates the extensive woods from the cemetery.   At this time, there are no plans to clear the woodlands to extend the cemetery beyond the road. To the South side of the cemetery I understand there may be some plots added in the future.

There are 29 plots in Row 29, 8 of them reserved without headstones.


Row 28, Plots 2 & 3, CROSS, J. Randall & Kathy (Eastwood) (res)


Randy Cross, 56, of DeWitt, Arkansas, died August 28, 2012.  He was born September 23, 1955 to Jack and Patsy Sue Terry Cross, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Eastwood Cross, three children, Charity Schuller and her husband Brian of Cary, NC, Jack Cross and his wife, Karen of Fordyce, and Silas Cross and his wife, Lauren of Pine Bluff; two grandchildren Tessa Cross and Parker Schuller; two sisters, Barbara Nelson and her husband Sam of Valparaiso, Fl. and Ann Bateman and her husband Alan of Byhia, MS; and his mother-in-law and close friend Martha Eastwood of DeWitt. 

He was an Farmers Insurance Agent in Pine Bluff and DeWitt for 28 years.  He was the owner of Cross Agency, Inc., Cross Property Management and Tax Centers of America.  He was past president of the Pine Bluff Jaycees and DeWitt Rotary Club, a member of the DeWitt Chamber of Commerce, a past member of the DeWitt City Council, a member of the Dixie Youth baseball board of directors and the Arkansas State Criminal Detention Facilities Review Committee.  He was commander of the AWANA Club and taught Sunday school at Unity Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held September 1, 2012 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church.  Burial was in Clement Cemetery, Grapevine, AR. 

Arrangements were by Essex Funeral Home, DeWitt, Arkansas. 

Row 28, Plot 1, CROSS, Patsy Terry




Patsy Sue Terry Cross, 72, of DeWitt, arkansas, died March 19, 2008.  She was born May 23, 1935 at Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Opal Veo and Linda Bridges Terry.  

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Cross of Elkins. 

After a life of travel with the U.S. Air Force, they returned to Pine Bluff in 1970, where she resided until moving to Memphis, Tennessee in 1991, then to DeWitt in 2005.

In addition to her husband, Patsy was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, J.A. Terry, King Terry, and Bobby Terry; one sister, Opal Calvert; and one grandchild, Chesed Renee Nelson.

She is survived by her sister Myrt Bobo, and her brother, Bill and Charlotte Terry of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; her children Rand and Kathy Eastwood Cross of DeWitt, Arkansas,Sam and Barbara Cross Nelson of Valparaiso, Florida, and Alan and Ann Cross Bateman of Barton, Mississippi; her grandchildred, Joshua and Chrissy Nelson, Sam and Heather Nelson, Jack and Karen Cross, Josiah Nelson, Chara Nelson, Silas Cross, Joel Nelson, Abigail Bateman, Hannah Nelson, Elizabeth Bateman, Sarah Nelson and Emily Bateman, and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Clement Cemetery in Grapevine, Arkansas.  After services, the family will be at Salem Missionary Baptist Church fellowship hall in Watson Chapel.  Funeral arrangements are by Essex Funeral Home, DeWitt, Arkansas (870) 946-3104.

Row 27, Plots 25 & 26, LAMINACK, Earline S. & James C. "Bo"


"Bo" 78 of 3105 Jonquil Street, Pine Bluff, Arkansas died at JRMC.  He was the son of James Luther and Lillian Rebecca Daniel Laminack.  

He was reared and educated at Lamont community near Grapevine.  He was a World War II Army veteran, a plumber and pipefitter, working for several local plumbing shops before joining the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 665.  

He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by an infant daughter in 1950.  

He was married to Earline Sanders on Dec. 23, 1942.  They have two sons James C. Laminack, Jr. and Cullen Laminack.  He had a brother Horace Laminack and a sister Stella Laminack Bryles.  

Funeral services were at Pinecrest Missionary Baptist Church with Rev A.D. Livingston officiating by Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary.

Row 27, Plot 17, SMITH, Jeffrey Leon, Jr.


Jeffrey Leon Smith, Jr., 28, of Sulphur Springs, went to be with the Lord, Monday, August 16, 2010.  He was born May 1, 1982 at Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  Jeffrey was a son of Ava Darlene McDaniel McAlister and Jeff Smith, Sr..

A member and life long attendant of Double Wells Assembly of God, Jeffrey graduated from Watson Chapel Schools in 2000.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed playing sports, hunting (especially duck hunting), fishing, umpiring for the local little league baseball and most any outdoor activity.  

A welder by trade, Jeffrey worked all over the state with Pittsburg Tank & Tower, and for a time at Pine Bluff Ironworks.  

Despite his sickness Jeffrey loved life, his family, friends and above all else, he loved the Lord.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Wilbur and Iola Dunn Smith, Ike and Ollie Haynes Appling, Clarence Blackburn and J.D. McDaniel, step-grandparents, Horace and Dorothy Davis.

He is survived by his children which he loved dearly, Madison Ava, Hayden and Weston Smith; grandparents, Clyde and Jimmie Appling McDaniel and Leon and Dean Blackburn Smith; great-granparents, Bessie Mae Murdock McDaniel and Mella Bentley Blackburn Howell and husband Eugene; siblings, Josh Bunting, Jerrett, Jacey, and Jada Smith; step-mother, Robbye Smith, step-father, Mark McAllister, loving aunts and uncles; Godmother, Sheryl McDaniel, step-granparents, Don and Betty McAllister and many other loving family and friends.  

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 21, 2010, 10.a.m. at Fuller Hale-South funeral chapel with Pastor Mike Cottrell officiating.  Pall bearers will be Todd Smith, Jarrett Smith, Lee Bateman, Keith Lawrence, Heath Bogy and Randy Blake, Ross Bateman and Joshua Bundting to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Burial will be in Clement Cemetery in Grant County.  Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
