Row 2, Plot 16, SMITH, Mildred (Clement) Baker


Mildred Clement Baker Smith of Sheridan, Arkansas was born February 24, 1921 at Grapevine, the daughter of the late John Manson and Florence Elizabeth Cearly Clement.  She was a member of New Life Fellowship Church in Sheridan, and was also a member of the Sheridan Chapter of the Eastern Star.  Mildred was retired co-owner of Baker's grocery store.

Mrs.Smith died Friday, June 27, 2008 at Saline Memorial Hospice at the age of 87.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James E. Baker, who was the father of her children, and Willie Smith; brothers A.J. Clement and V.M. Clement; sister Betty Jane Hopkins; great great grandchild, Gabrielle Valentine.

Survivors include her sons, James M. and wife Vi Baker and David E. and wife Sandy Baker, daughters, Anne and husband Al Threlkeld and Kay and  husband Kenny Oakley, all of Sheridan; brothers, J.C. and wife Nada Clement of Pine Bluff and J.F. "Chub" and his wife Sue Clement of the Ain community;  sister, Anna Mae and husband Ashley Spears of Greenbrier, 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandhildren and 1 great great grandchild. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, June 30, 2008 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Bro. Steve Cypert and Chaplain Kim Hammer officiating.  Burial will be in Clement Cemetery, near Grapevine.  Visitation will be Sunday evening from 3:00-5:00 P.M.  Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandson-in-law: James Baker, Hollis Hicks, Scott Hicks, Dave Hicks, Mark Fuell, Craig Jeffords, Kevin Kraft, Wade Crosswhite, Willie Levart.
