Row 2, Plots 12 &13, GREEN, Arthur Olen & Dahlia (Clement)


Arthur was killed at the age of 50.  He was driving a Welch Laundry and Cleaners truck when he was struck by a car driven by Wayne Allred who had run a stop sign at 16th and Chestnut Street in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.  

Arthur was the son of Morie Sam and Genevia Taylor Green and a native of Grant County. 

Arthur married Dahlia Clement on July 14, 1934.  

He moved to Pine Bluff in 1932 and worked several years as a plumber.  He operated 1020 Cafe on Cherry Street for a number of years.  He was employed by Welch's only a few months.  Dahlia also worked for them at this time as a seamstress.  

He was a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Pine Bluff, AR..  His funeral services were held there by Rev. Dale Gentry and Hillman Moore.  

Arthur and Dahlia had two sons Lee Olen Green and Howard Wayne Green.  They also had two daughters, Barbara Lynn Green Taylor and Brenda Kay Green Taylor.

Dahlia O. (Clement) Green, 97, of Pine Bluff passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at the White Hall Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born January 6, 1913, at Grapevine, Arkansas she was a daughter of the late Martin and Hattie Ginnett Clement.  She was reared and received her early education in Grapevine, attending Grapevine schools.

In 1934, she married Arthur Olen Green and moved to Pine Bluff.  Mrs. Green was a loving wife, mother and homemaker..  She was an accomplished seamstress and did alterations for Baim's Department Store and also worked for Welch's Dry Cleaners.  She was a faithful member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Pine Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur Green, one son, Lee Olen Green, one grandson Michael David Green, one sister Zola Appling, and four brothers Lavon Clement, Hubert Clement, Harold, (Jack) Clement and Herbert Clement.

She is survived by one son, Howard and Dorothy Green of Woodlawn, two daughters, Barbara and Lyndell Taylor of Grapevine and Brenda and Stan Taylor of Pine Bluff; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Green of Pine Bluff; one sister Maylee Pierce of Grapeviine; two sister-in-laws, Dorris Clement of Monticello and Audra Clement of Grapevine.

She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Lisa Hoyle of Dallas, Texas, Marty and Lynn Taylor both of Grapevine Carrie Ashcraft of Woodlawn, Tera Wright of Muldrow, Oklahoma, Christopher and Dustin Taylor of Jonesboro; ten great-grandchildren, William and Julia Green, Eric Hoyle, Courtney and Daniel Taylor, Lauren and Kelli Taylor, Eli and Ella Claire Ashcraft and Madison Wright.

Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Friday, May 7, 2010, in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Rev. Donald Ruffin officiating.  Burial will folow in Clement Cemetery in Grant County.  The family will receive friends at 1:00PM till service time on Friday.

Memorials may be made to the Clement Cemetery Association, 1777 Grant 192, Grapevine, Arkansas 72057.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Marty Taylor, Lynn Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Dustin Taylor, Terry Hoyle, Clay Ashcraft and Richard Wright.
