Row 5, Plots 9 & 10, CLEMENT, Walter Benjamin & Lydia (Woodfield)



Walter, 70, of Little Rock died at St. Vincent Hospital.  A native of Grant Co. he was the son of Benjamin Franklin and Martha Jane Watts Clement.  He was married to Lydia Woodfield on Mar. 14, 1935.  He moved to Pine Bluff when he was 14 years old.  He served with the United States Navy Construction Battalion "the Seebees" during World War II.  He operated Clement Plumbing Co. at Pine Bluff before moving to Little Rock in 1949, he continued plumbing until he retied in 1976.  He was a member of Marham St. Baptist Church where he was a deacon.  He was a mason and a member of the Steam Fitters Union Local #155. 

Lydia of Little Rock died at the age of 86.   She was born at Lamont, Grant Co. the daughter of John R. and Artie Mae Roberts Woodfield.  She was reared and received her education in the Sulphur Springs community.  During World WarII she was an airplane mechanic at Grider Field in Pine Bluff.  She was a seamstress for over 25 years at Ottenheimers's Clothing Manufacturing co..  She was a member of Markham Street Baptist Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #40.  She and Walter had one daughter Linda Kay Clement Smith.  After Walter died Lydia married Owen Henderson.   He is buried in Little Rock with his first wife.  

Funeral arrangements were by Ralph Robinson's with Dr. Hal Dixon officiating.
