Row 6, Plots 5&6, HARTWICK, Ulan S. & Betty J. (Clement)

Ulan S. "Shorty" Hartwick of Little Rock, Arkansas was born April 29, 1926 in England, Arkansas, the son of te late J.H. and Effie Taylor Harwick.  He was a member of Lorance Drive Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon for 20 years.  
Mr. Hartwick was a proud American who served in the United States Army during World War II.  He was a retired millwright, had formerly owned and operated Fourche Dam Dairy Bar, and leter retired from General Electric.  
He enjoyed traveling with his wife, fishing, oil painting, and telling and hearing a good joke.  

His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.  
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Keeshan Jones .  Mr. Hartwick died Friday May 21, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family, at the age of 84.  Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty Jo Clement Harwick of Little Rock.  They were married September 13, 1948.  
Other survivors are his daughters, Sue Pyland of Little Rock, Sissy Hartwick Pederson of Fayetteville; and Brenda Kay Riley and husband Mark of East End; sister Billie Sloan of Little Rock; Grandchildren, Kiley Pederson, Dr. Clay Hartwick Riley and wife Lana, Chad Riley and wife Stacy; 7 great grandchildren.  
Funeral services will be 10:00A.M. Monday, May 24, 2010 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel in Sheridan with Preacher David Sweet and Mark Riley officiating.  Burial will be in Clement Cemetery near Grapevine (Grant County).  Visitation will be Sunday, 2:00-4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to : Truth For Today World Mission School, 2209 Benton Street, Search, Arkansas72143.
