Row 8, Plots 10 & 11, APPLING, Joseph Earl & Zola (Clement)


Earl 83, of Highway 79 in the Watson Chapel area died at his home.  He was born in Grant County the son of Franklin Graves and Jennie Sullivant Appling.

He was a deacon and member of Salem MB Church.  He retired from the maintenance department at the Stae highway and Transportation Department in 1977.  He also worked at Wafford Cabinet Shop.  he was a graduate of Rison high School.  He was a member of Taylor Masonic Lodge at Grapevine.    
He was married to Zola Idell Clement.

Zola Idell Clement was born at Grapevine, AR, the daughter of Joseph Martin and Nany Hattie Ginnett Clement.  She was a homemaker and a member of salem MB Church.  She was in the first graduating class of grapevine High School.  Her name is the first one you step onto the sidewalk off the front porch of the main building.  

She and Earl were the parents of one son Joseph Franklin "Joe" Appling and three daughters, Margaret Ann appling Thompson, Betty Frances Appling Webb and Mattie Florence "T-Ninety" Appling Minchew.  

Both of their funerals were held at Hale-South Funeral Home by Rev. Howard Loetscher and Donnie Lee Ruffin.
